Client: The Governors of St Ignatius School / Diocese of Westminster
Project value: £475k
Completion: August 2007
Growing numbers at St Ignatius have resulted in their existing 1968 buildings being full to capacity. The school needed specialist teaching spaces and improved staff facilities to cope with the increasing numbers. The school is committed to ensuring that every child is happy and has a broad, balanced and relevant education that enables them to reach their full potential, preparing them for the challenges they face in an ever-changing world. The school was struggling to achieve this within their limited and dated facilities.
A Department for Children, Schools and Families grant provided the opportunity to take a big step forward, enabling the school accommodation to be improved with the addition of a new build resource centre. The DHP design achieved the required space and quality, maximising the use of the limited budget.
The school are rightly proud of their newly built resource centre, which is helping them lay the important foundations for a lifetime of learning amongst pupils. The centre includes high quality, spacious library, group room, IT suite, design technology, art and food science spaces.
