West Lea School Update Written on 22nd March 2019

We are a third of the way there with our West Lea School development, phase A was completed in time for the start of the last academic year and phase A+ is starting on site imminently.

Since 2016 dhp have been working with the school to create a 10 year phased development plan to address the schools critical accommodation issues. West Lea School is a special educational needs school and the existing site was deficient in suitable accommodation to provide the required level of education for the needs of the pupils.

The development is being delivered over three phases with phase A having already delivered an internal refurbishment and reconfiguration to the existing main building, providing new offices and welfare facilities. Additionally, a new two storey teaching block extension was adjoined to the existing main building and includes, on each floor, four classrooms, a group room, cloakroom, store cupboards, toilets and accessible toilets.

With phase A+ due to start and phase B not far behind, the whole development is due to be completed by the end of 2020, providing the much needed space for an enriched curriculum to this fantastic school.
