Client: Guildford Diocesan Board of Education / Governors of St. Peter’s C of E Primary School
Project value: £750,000
Completion: July 2010
The School accommodation has grown over the past century to facilitate increases in pupil numbers and changes in the ages of pupils at the school. Much of the accommodation is pre-war and solid, however, the heart of the school comprised a structurally defective 1970s hall and a 1950s HORSA temporary concrete building providing dining room and kitchen facilities. These later buildings were not serving the school well both in terms of the condition and quality of accommodation.
In 2008 the school Governing Body, assisted by DHP, obtained Targeted Capital Funding for the replacement of these facilities. The new buildings consisted of multi purpose hall, kitchen and dining facilities.
The new facilities link the school in a cohesive manner with brick and render elevations being sympathetic to existing surroundings whilst blending modern materials.
